Rub Rub Rub LUSH review -

Hey lovlies -
It's been a while! Recently for my birthday I went to the mall and finally used up a gift card to LUSH that I've had since last Christmas. I have NO clue what took me so long to finally just go and pick something up. The first time I went in I didn't actually have the certificate on hand so a lovely employee showed me (almost) everything in the store and told me exactly what everything was used for, what ingredients they used, etc. I left with a few samples to try out.

When I came back I settled on Rub Rub Rub, which is a salt scrub to exfoliate/moisturize the skin. The bright blue color is the first thing that catches your attention. The scent is a cool, somewhat citrus-y smell. I don't mind it very much, but others may find it a little off putting. As for the texture, the tiny pieces of salt used in the product aren't abrasive, but have enough exfoliating power to really smooth the skin.

I first found out about the product from Estée, better known as Essie Button on the blog and YouTube front. The LUSH employee told me that she used it before she shaved to get the maximum moisture. I have always had horrible razor burn no matter what shaving cream, razor brand, or creams I used to try and prevent it. It wasn't until I used this product that it all cleared up!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with razor burn or dry skin problems. Hope this review was helpful!

What LUSH products have you tried out?

Hello lovlies -
Sorry I suck at blogging. Truthfully, I just haven't felt motivated to do much of anything lately. So in order to push out this "blogger's block" and get a post out of here, I'm going to do a currently post. This was inspired by the always lovely bebebirdbeck aka Amber. So here goes:

Drinking - I had to share this because I've been loving it lately. I am currently drinking my homemade iced coffee. It's so freaking yummy. You control the strength and sweetness. It's perfect.

Reading - Nothing as of right now. I really, really want to start reading John Green's The Fault in Our Stars.

Listening to - I've been listening to Fireworks by Van Susans on repeat. I just discovered the bad from another beauty blogger. One of the band members (main singer, I think) is her brother. Her YouTube account is here.

Loving - Being surrounded by people that love me. Sitting in the peace and quiet of my room, enjoying my music and surfing the web.

Wanting - To have fun this summer. Do all the stereotypical things. Go to the beach. Go out and have adventures. Drive with the wind blowing in my hair. Listen to good music. All of that stuff.

Well, I guess that's all. I hope this wasn't too boring for you all! I'm going to try and post more often and get some more beauty related stuff out there. Maybe try some Outfit of the Day posts? What do you guys think?

foodie | shrimp fajitas

Hi guys!
Just wanted to write a post on one of my favorite quick meals: shrimp fajitas. This is going to be a pretty non-traditional recipe in the sense that I am just going to try and wing it with the measurements. Either way, it turns out wonderfully.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  - a handful of shrimp, preferably one of the larger varieties
  - one red, orange, or yellow bell pepper, sliced
  - one medium sweet onion, sliced
  - an avocado
  - a lime wedge
  - sour cream (optional)
  - two pinches (heehee) of paprika
  - a pinch (or two according to your taste) of chili powder
  - hot sauce of your choice (optional)
  - cheddar or Mexican style cheese, shredded
  - corn or flour torillas

HOW IT'S MADE:
- First, put the pepper and onion into a skillet coated with olive oil. Let that cook on low/med heat until soft, but not browned.
- Add the shrimp to the pan. Mix around and wait until they turn to a pinky-opaque color. Add the seasonings to the mixture and stir around to evenly distribute.
- Toast up the corn (my preference) or flour tortillas in a toaster or oven till just warm and slightly crunchy.
- Make up your fajita however you would like. Mine goes sour cream, cheese, shrimp/pepper/onion, hot sauce, squeeze of lime, and avocado on the side ;) .

DRESS IT UP:
Pair it with a batch of Spanish rice and beans, or a veggie and make it a full meal. Quick and easy!

EAT IT UP:
Pretty self explanatory. If that already didn't cause your tummy to grumble, here are some pictures.

Enjoy

As this is only the first day, I have only tried two of the products. I used the Nexxus hair serum and the simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On. My thoughts so far are mixed on the Nexxus, because I've had my hair in a messy bun all day (What? It's Saturday!) and I like the simple Roll-On so far. It has a tingly, cool feeling when you put it on. I don't see any results so far, but I'll get back to you guys on that in a few weeks.

Be sure to look out for reviews!
Love you all,

review: theBalm Put a Lid On It Eyelid Primer

For Christmas I got a sample of theBalm's Put a Lid On It Eyelid Primer. When I misplaced my Laura Gellar Waterproof Eye Spackle (oops!), I started using this primer. I had never used a primer before this past year, but I have found now that I can hardly go without one. It improves the staying power and color payoff so much. Personally, I find that my eyelids are prone to crease throughout the day. This usually happens between 3-5 hours I would say.

purchase full size here!
I really love this primer. The actual product has a beige-y tinge to it but once you smooth it onto your eyelids, it goes on clear. I've found that the staying power of this primer is about 6-8 hours. I think this is a great amount of time and can guarantee that it will last throughout the school/work day.

The only downside to this product is that I found, when applied to sensitive/dry eyes, it tends to sting a little. For a while I was having an issue with my eyes watering which in turn caused my lids and outer corners to be a little dry and irritated. If you don't have a problem with dry/irritated eyelids then I highly recommend this product.

Hope this helps!

Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter filled with family, fun, and lots of love. Never forget that it was Jesus who was raised again to save us from all of our sins. With that in mind here is a verse for today:
Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” - John 20: 26b-27

And finally, a few Spring-y pictures!

Have a lovely Easter!

monday blues

I don't know if any of you lovely people out there experience the Monday blues, but I definitely have a case of them today. I am going to give a few of my remedies when you get some of those Monday blues.

•  Take a warm shower/bath. As someone who loves beauty, hair care, etc. I recommend pulling out some of your favorite bath items such as bath bombs, your favorite shampoo/hair mask, or a new product you haven't gotten to try out yet.
•  Make it into a spa (or pamper) night. For some awesome ideas click here.
A face mask is a great way to relax and feel refreshed after a hard day.
•  You could give your feet a good soak as well.
•  Snuggle up in your favorite blanket, wearing your best pajamas and watch your favorite TV show/movie.
•  Make yourself a cup of tea/coffee/cider and your favorite snack and just RELAX!

These are just a few ideas for you guys to try out that I love doing. Somethings will be better than others, depending on the person.

Love you guys!

Go Green - Hobbies-CANCELLED

As you all know I was doing a series called Go Green. I've decided to not do the last one because I forgot what I was even going to include. (I know, I know.) Although, pathetic this is actually true.

Go Green - Home

Hey lovelies -
Today I'll be doing the second of the series, the home. If you're not sure what all this is about, look down below at some former posts! This one most likely won't be as extensive as the last, just some tips/tricks that I thought up!

Tips for staying green in the home:

Use energy efficient light bulbs. Y'know those twisty ones in the store? Apparently these last much longer than your standard light bulb, and don't take as much energy!

• Unplug your appliances after use. Now, of course I do not want you to unplug your oven after you've baked or something. What I mean by this is that after your phone is finished charging, or you've just blow dried your hair, unplug the appliance. It'll help save electric (and maybe reduce the bill!).

• Similar to the last one, don't keep your devices plugged in once they are fully charged. I have a difficult time staying on track with this one because sometimes I'll plug in the phone before bed and it'll charge up all night. But if you're pretty reliable and want to stay on top of things, this is the tip for you.

• Plant something. I always loved the idea of a small garden outside of the home or a few plants all around the house. For inspiration click here , here, or here! Lovely ideas from the ever inspiring A Beautiful Mess sisters.

•Use natural daylight. I know this one sounds obvious, but you would be susurprised. The other morning I was on my latop and had turned on the lights in my room. Without even thinking about it. It was daylight, around 12 pm. Why not just use the window? The thought had just dawned on me, so I opened it up, and sure enough, it did the trick.

Allllll right. That's all for today, I'll have the last one up soon. What are your thoughts on this series? Comment below! (I love love love reading them)

Going Green - Health

Hey guys-
If you haven't heard of this series I thought up check down below for some earlier posts. This particular post is Going Green - Health. I'm just going to give a few tips on staying healthy and trying to help the environment at the same time. Like I said before, I am no expert, and I'm not great at all of these so we are going to go through this together.

Try and eat healthier.
via
I know this is a kind of loaded suggestion. It's a lot of hard work and I understand that. But the way you'll feel after is so worth it. I don't think you need to be on a strict diet to be healthy. There are plenty of ways, such as:
only eat if you are hungry | try out smoothies/juicing | make sure to have at least one veggie with dinner | use the "cheat cheat" rule and give yourself a spoil day

Some of the foods that I have heard are "superfoods" or are super healthy and tasty (I think) are kale, almonds, oats, berries, yogurt, wheat bread, and wheat pasta (the angel hair isn't as pungent), to name a few.

• Exercise
via

I'm not going to tell you to do it daily. I'm not even going to tell you how long to exercise. Just do something. Anything. Walk, run, jog, lift, squat, pull up, push up, do planks, do sit ups. Just make sure you are moving and being active. Believe me, I hate to think "Oh I should probably work out" after a hard, long day. But you'll feel better in the end.

  Buy organic.

Now, here's the one I have the most trouble with. It is expensive. That is the one downfall and something I'll never understand. They say "Eat healthy", but if I can't afford it, how will I
I do believe it is better for you to eat organic, but if you can't I wouldn't sweat it. Start small maybe, try out organic veggie broth, then organic apples, whatever it is. No big commitment or pressure.

So, I think that just about all I've got for this one. Stay tuned for the other two: home and hobbies. Are you enjoying the series? Comment below with the answer.
